inkbats asked: dude, i just wanted to say your sleeve is looking fucking incredible!

Hey, thanks. I dont know what else to say but thank you. People are weird about tattoos sometimes.

So here’s the progress so far on the Al Columbia sleeve, all together. I gotta choose a couple more pieces, 2-3. One is Knishkekibble The Monkey Boy, likely on my wrist. Then I’m going to search for a few others. I’d like to do something from Biologic Show #0 or so, more in his pen & ink style….but I’m afraid that it wouldn’t look right next to his later, streamlined stuff. We will see. I’m in love with the guy peeking around the corner in the opening pages of Biologic Show #0, opening his mouth so wide that his jaw pretty much unhinges & it’s all tongue & teeth. Also, a clown face from Amnesia is a likely addition. I’d love to add the Hydra from “The Trumpets They Play!” but we will see if there is room. I need something from that story, it’s likely my favorite of his if I HAD to choose.

No matter what, it’s only pretty much outline at this point & I’m already in love with it. I cannot wait to see the finished product, no matter how much more is needed to complete it. Giving it time to heal is the worst, I’m sorta impatient in that regard. But I’m very happy my artist & I came up with this scheme…we went from doing one or a couple Columbia pieces….where I was having trouble choosing….to saying
"eff it" and doing a sleeve. The mottos "If you’re going to do it, do it right" & "all or nothing" definitely apply to this one.

Oh you like that shirt huh? You should let Michel Fiffe know, his handle on Tumblr is Zegas. This is the shirt he made with the cover to COPRA #1. Which is now like…legendary at this point. Maybe if you ask, he will do more. But, I’ve got mine & i must admit… it’s quite stylish.

This is flipped from the original, but I don’t think Al will mind. The Monkey Boy & few others next, then filling it all in with flies, skull-hearts, bugs, critters, & such. This thing is going to be AWESOME. All Al Columbia sleeve for those who haven’t followed these posts. Also, I FINALLY have a copy of Blab #10 to go in my Columbia collection, that I got for under $20 bucks!! Now, for his Zero Zero appearances, then maybe a bind all his stuff into one book. That’d be my prize book. Although, I fear I’ll never find a copy of Biologic Show #1 to go with my copy of #0. I cannot even find a copy for sale, let alone one reasonably priced. That I wouldn’t have to take insurance out on. At least I’m having good luck in one facet of my life. So, “Amnesia” “Bloodtclot Boy” & “I Was Killing…”, you turds are mine.

More work done on my Al Columbia sleeve. It
's really coming together.

captaindropout:

Got most of the outlines for the top half of my Al Columbia full sleeve done. Trinity the artist working on me, started to fill-in the silhouettes & ghoul but we ran over our time & she had customers waiting. We will start the outlines on my lower arm next week, adding in Pim & Francie, Seymour Sunshine (from the cover of Biologic Show #1),  and a few others. Then we will tie it together by filing in the gaps with flies, bugs, & hearts w/ skull faces. After, that we will grey wash all of it. I love it, it means a whole helluva lot to me and there’s not another artist’s work I’d rather have on me. Can’t wait to see it all done and see how it all comes together.

The start of my Al Columbia half-sleeve. Cannot wait to get more added to it.

Really wild stuff…

Definitely a forgotten masterpiece.

I was over at Jim Rugg’s house and he showed me this new thing he was working on. His page is the page in the middle. He said it is “Bible Fan Art in the EC tradition” - for an upcoming art show.
